Jorge Cruz Urena
Junior Program Manager of the Public Health Corp Program
Joined AIRnyc in 2022. Jorge was born in Manhattan and raised in the Dominican Republic. Since Jorge was a child, he has been affected by the stigma of mental health and prejudice. As he grew older, he realized that he was not the only one dealing with these issues, and that many people suffer from them alone in silence. He stands for a community that’s free from prejudices and strives to normalize mental health. He is driven by the belief that you don’t need to meet certain standards of society in order to be accepted, and that people are special no matter their color, sexuality or race. Jorge is certified in Mental Health First Aid by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.
