Jennifer Arcila
Community Health Worker
Jennifer joined AIRnyc in 2022 as an intern and returned in 2023 after graduating college. Born in Colombia, Jennifer immigrated to the US in 2019. During her studies, she developed a strong interest in public health in underserved populations. While participating in a research hub on environmental health, Jennifer gained more knowledge and awareness of her community’s social and health disparities, witnessing the effects of poverty firsthand. In her final semester, she received a merit for her thesis project, which aimed to meet the needs of a population impacted by the armed conflict in Colombia. Jennifer is passionate about helping her community and empowering people to make informed decisions that improve their health and quality of life. Prior to joining AIRnyc, she worked as a project administrator, research assistant, and environmental compliance manager. In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with family and friends, having a good coffee, trying new food, hiking, and dancing salsa. She holds an AS in Public Health from Queensborough Community College and a BS in Healthcare Administration from the University of Antioquia in Medellin, Colombia.
